6 Months Post-Surgery

I cannot believe it’s been six months since my skin removal surgery!  A friend just asked me tonight if I’m glad I did it.  Seriously, it was one of the best decisions of my life.  It changed everything for me. With that said, I’m so disappointed in how my body has changed since August.  I used my new animated GIF skills to show you what I mean:

I let my newfound confidence become full-on complacence.  And that has led to a serious weight gain.  But I’m feeling motivated now, and I’m hopeful that my one-year post is going to be totally different.

So I just updated a month ago, and there really isn’t a whole lot to be said.  Here are the new up-close shots:

My scars are fading nicely.

My leg scars have completely flattened out as you can see in this animated GIF of my thigh. (Sorry, it’s like a new toy…I can’t make myself stop!  Clearly, I don’t have it all worked out. The cropping is a hot mess.)

I no longer have pain in my back incision line when I run, which is amazing.  The swelling appears to be totally gone.  I think any residual swelling I have is mostly from the constant heat here.  I think the biggest issue I now have is in my boobs.  I don’t know that I’ve mentioned much about it, but the scar lines around both areolae are still very tender.  And it seems to get worse with my period and after I’ve been running.  But that’s not the hugest deal.  I’m hopeful it will get better with time.

So I probably won’t update monthly now – I will likely post again at my 9 month point.  And as far as my arm surgery is concerned, I do still intend to do it.  However, it probably won’t happen until next year at the earliest.  I’m not in a huge rush – I want to get my body back in shape first.

If you ever have any questions, never hesitate to ask!  Remember, you can see all of my surgery posts here.

Hey it’s Cathy from MHA I am so dang happy and proud of you ~ you look AMAZING!!!! I have been watching and following you. You have been inspiring me so much. I just had surgery Jan 7th. So far I have lost 60 pounds but its been really hard (in and out of hospital once in ICU) I have not worked the phones since January. Thank you for being such a great inspiration to me and I am sure many others. Keep up the good work.
